Gbarnga Central Prison Superintendent Raises Urgent Concerns of Overcrowding at the facility.

Bong County: With a maximum capacity of 130 prisoners, the current population stands at over 307 thereby jeopardizing the safety and well-being of both inmates and correctional officers assigned at the compound.
Mulbah attributes the overcrowding to the backlog of cases and the alleged abandonment of legal proceedings by complainants.
He then called for the immediate intervention of the Ministry of Justice to expedite the trial process for pre-trial detainees so as to reduce congestion and restore order to the prison environment.
Richard Mulbah speaking at the May Term of Court opening of recent said the facility's presently lack electricity and functional vehicle to transport convicts and pre-trial detainees.
According to report, the absence of reliable power sources not only compromises security but also hampers the provision of basic services and undermines the rehabilitation efforts at the prison.
At the same time, speaking on behalf of the security sector, Bong County Police Commander Fasu V. Sheriff commended the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Justice and various security institutions in upholding peace and justice across Liberia.
