"I Will Continue My Advocacy" - Prophet Key Unshaken After Contempt Jail

Monrovia, Liberia: Hours after being released from serving a 6-month jail term for contempt of court, popular Liberian social media personality Justine Oldpa Yeazeahn, alias "Prophet Key", has insisted on continuing his strong advocacy against what he called "ills" in the government.

While Yeazeahn acknowledged his languages toward the Chief Justice and members of the full bench of the Supreme Court were inappropriate, he said his recent imprisonment does not change his stance, but only pushed him to refine his words when addressing the issues.

The popular social media influencer was sent to prison on February 13, 2026 after being held under contempt of court for reigning insults against Chief Justice Yarmie Quiqui Gbeisay and associate justices of the high court.

Justine Oldpa Yeazeahn, alias "Prophet key's" said his advocacy came amidst what he termed as widespread demolition of homes, which he linked to poor management of land cases in court.

He also accused Justice Chief Gbeisay of directly operating private businesses, which according to him violates key provisions of the Liberian law.

But, concerns sparked over his manner of approach, with the chief justice taking serious exception to invectives used, targeting key judiciary actors while addressing his (Yeazeahn) points.

Justice Gbeisay had said the approach brought the Supreme Court to public disrepute, something that prompted a contempt case with Prophet Key.

Following a series of legal proceedings, the social media personality was rendered guilty, as the court emphasized that while the constitution guarantees free speech, it goes with responsibilities.

Yeazeahn was made to serve half-a-year at the Monrovia Central Prison, signed a behavior bond and published apology notes in local dailies, before his release was officially ordered on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Speaking at the grounds of the court after stepping out of the Monrovia Central Prison, he claimed the judiciary still has lapses in terms of adjudicating cases for pre-trial detianees.

Justine Oldpa Yeazeahn vowed to speak to the matter and including other issues using his social media handle, but said this time void of invectives.

"I will continue the advocacy. No difficult moment for me; I have been rehabilitated. I will not cuss. We will make this country better", Justine Oldpa Yeazeahn said.

Meanwhile, Yeazeahn claimed his rights were violated. He mentioned that the chief justice took a case with him, and at the same time presided over rulings that led to his imprisonment.

"The chief justice who was the complainant was the same person judging me", he noted.

However, the Prophet Key case has made rounds in Liberia with mixed public reactions.

Some hailed the Supreme Court's decision, saying it sets a strong precedent on public utterance, while others believe the move intimidates dissenters and clamps down on freedom of expression.
