LNP Charges Man With Manslaughter Over Girlfriend’s Death in Paynesville

MONROVIA, Liberia: The Liberia National Police has charged 36-year-old Henry B. Dennis with manslaughter following an investigation into the death of his girlfriend, Patience Mulbah.

Mulbah’s lifeless body was discovered along the 72nd–SKD Boulevard in Paynesville after photographs and videos from the scene circulated on social media.

Investigators from the LNP’s Crime Against Persons Unit and Forensic Section responded to the scene. Mulbah was later taken to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

According to the police investigation report, Dennis and Mulbah had been in a romantic relationship for approximately two years.

Police Question Alleged Robbery Account

Dennis reportedly told investigators that he and Mulbah were travelling on a motorcycle during the early morning hours when three men armed with cutlasses attacked them near the Police Academy Road intersection.

He claimed the attackers struck their motorcycle, causing them to fall. Dennis reportedly said he fled the scene, boarded another motorcycle and travelled to Mulbah’s residence in Rehab, Paynesville.

However, police said investigators found no evidence supporting his account of the alleged robbery.

The report also noted alleged inconsistencies in Dennis’ statements. Police said he initially claimed that three attackers were armed with cutlasses but later stated that the alleged robbers had only one cutlass.

Dennis reportedly told investigators that his mobile phone was lost during the incident and that he sustained injuries for which he later sought medical treatment.

Failure to Seek Assistance

Police alleged that Dennis left Mulbah along the roadside without reporting the incident or seeking emergency assistance from law-enforcement authorities.

According to investigators, Dennis did not appear at LNP Headquarters until April 25, 2026, at approximately 1:04 p.m., after friends who had reportedly seen him with Mulbah began questioning him about her whereabouts.

Investigators determined that Mulbah had been in Dennis’ care immediately before her death and that he had an opportunity to seek police or emergency assistance following the alleged incident.

The LNP concluded that Dennis’ alleged failure to act amounted to a gross deviation from the conduct expected of a reasonable person under the circumstances. Police further alleged that this breach of duty contributed directly to Mulbah’s death.

Police Trace Couple’s Final Movements

The investigation report also detailed the movements of Dennis and Mulbah during the hours preceding her death.

Police said Mulbah was initially seen with friends at the Viewpoint Entertainment Center before travelling to Private Bar in the Joe Bar Community, where she met Dennis.

A longtime friend identified as Shine Ville reportedly saw the couple at the bar and later observed them with an unidentified man near the DJ booth.

Investigators said Dennis bought drinks for Mulbah and asked her to accompany him to his residence in Rehab. Mulbah reportedly requested to return to her own residence, and the couple later agreed to travel toward the 72nd Community.

They were reportedly travelling along the SKD–72nd Boulevard when Dennis claimed the alleged attack occurred.

Police maintained that their investigation found no evidence establishing that the couple was attacked as Dennis alleged.

Case Sent to Court

Based on its findings, the LNP charged Dennis with manslaughter under Chapter 14, Subchapter A, Section 14.2 of Liberia’s Revised Penal Code.

Dennis was arrested on April 25, 2026, informed of his constitutional rights and subsequently investigated and charged, according to police.

The case is expected to be forwarded to court for trial. Dennis remains presumed innocent unless and until the prosecution proves the charge against him beyond a reasonable doubt.
