Police Report Clears Fadiga of Key Allegations, Recommends Charges Against AFL Soldiers
Monrovia, Liberia: An investigative report released has recommended criminal charges against several Armed Forces of Liberia personnel following a confrontation involving Hassan Fadiga.
The incident occurred on February 21, 2025, in Gbangba Town Community along the RIA Highway.
According to the report, Staff Sergeant Joseph G. Broh damaged Fadiga’s vehicle, including its rear windshield, with an object believed to be a bayonet. Police confirmed that Fadiga used pepper spray during the confrontation.
Investigators rejected claims that Fadiga caused Broh’s injuries, saying witness accounts and video evidence showed that Broh sustained the injuries while striking the vehicle. Police also found no evidence that pepper spray was discharged inside Broh’s vehicle.
The report further found that Lt. Nathaniel Kollie and other military personnel unlawfully restricted the Fadiga family’s movement and interfered with responding police officers.
Police recommended charging Broh with recklessly endangering another person, false imprisonment and criminal mischief. Kollie and other military personnel yet to be identified were recommended for prosecution for false imprisonment.
The LNP’s Criminal Services Department also recommended that the AFL hand over the accused personnel to civilian authorities for possible prosecution.
