President Boakai Says Govt Only Provided Funds for UL Renovation, Not That Campus Is Fixed

Monrovia, Liberia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has clarified that the Government of Liberia provided funding intended to support renovation efforts at the University of Liberia, amid continued complaints from students about poor learning conditions on campus.

The President stressed that his statement was about government support through funding, and not a claim that the university has been fully renovated.

His clarification follows a report circulating online suggesting the President said the government had already renovated the University of Liberia. Boakai said that version of the story misrepresents what he communicated.

Students at the state-run university have repeatedly raised concerns over inadequate learning facilities, including classrooms and other basic academic resources.

Boakai did not disclose the amount provided or give a timeline for when renovation works will be completed.
