Rep. Fonati Koffa Wins 55th Speakership Election

Capitol Hill: Grand Kru county representative Counselor J. Fonati Koffa has emerged as winner as speaker of the 55th legislature.

Rep. Fonati Koffa won 36 while Richard Koon got 31 votes.

He has been inducted as speaker of that August body now charged with the responsibility to handle the affairs of the national legislature.

Speaking shortly following his induction, the newly elected house speaker vowed to work collectively with the President elect on key national issues including the establishment of the war and economic crimes court in Liberia.

Koffa expressed joy over his election commiting a repsonsible leadership for the common good of the 55th legislature.

Speaker Koffa meanwhile openly used the occassion and apologized to his colleagues for any wrong doings during the time of the house eletions.

Next is the deputy speaker election and the big question is, who becomes the deputy?
