Suspected Motorcycle Thief Brutally Attacked by Mob in Paynesville
A man believed to be in his 30s is fighting for his life after being brutally assaulted by an angry mob in the Soul Clinic Community on the outskirts of Monrovia, following allegations that he stole a motorcycle. According to eyewitnesses, the suspect allegedly made away with a motorcycle from within the Soul Clinic area on Monday, April 13. Residents reportedly pursued him through the community, eventually catching up with him near the Swaray Clinic area.

Paynesville, Liberia: A man believed to be in his 30s is fighting for his life after being brutally assaulted by an angry mob in the Soul Clinic Community on the outskirts of Monrovia, following allegations that he stole a motorcycle.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect allegedly made away with a motorcycle from within the Soul Clinic area on Monday, April 13. Residents reportedly pursued him through the community, eventually catching up with him near the Swaray Clinic area.
Upon his capture, the situation quickly escalated as a crowd gathered and began attacking the suspected thief. Witnesses said he was stoned and beaten with sticks and other objects, leaving him to sustain severe injuries.
Some accounts gathered by K-NEWS indicate that the mob used heavy stones to strike his head.
Officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) later arrived at the scene and intervened, rescuing the suspect from the crowd. He was subsequently taken away for medical attention.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident, and the condition of the victim remains unknown.
Mob violence, often driven by allegations of theft, continues to be a concern in parts of Liberia, despite repeated warnings from law enforcement against taking the law into one’s own hands.
