Breaking: Bility's CMC Pulls Out of Proposed Opposition Collaboration

The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) of Nimba County District #7 Representative Musa Bility has declined to form an opposition collaboration proposed by opposition leaders during a recent roundtable meeting led by Ex-President and Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Political Leader George Weah.

The CMC, in a statement Thursday, noted that it has formally informed Weah and other opposition leaders of its decision.

The party said proposed arrangements for the collaboration do not reflect its objectives and the change it has promised to bring to the Liberian people.

Early this month, Ex-President George Weah rallied other opposition leaders to form a collaboration to begin collectively holding the government's feet to the fire ahead of the next general elections.

Opposition parties then agreed to form a steering committee that will draft a framework for how they can work together. But, with the proposed framework being drafted, the CMC has become the first to pull out of the process.

The party writes: "The Citizens Movement for Change has formally informed former President George Manneh Weah and the other Political Leaders who participated in the Opposition Political Leaders Forum held on September 6, 2026 that it will not endorse the current draft communique or continue in the present process leading to the formation of the proposed opposition coalition".

"The CMC’s decision followed a careful review of the draft communique by the CMC National Executive Committee, National Advisory Council, and Diaspora Leadership".

"The overwhelming view of the Party's leadership is that the proposed arrangement, in its current form, does not sufficiently reflect the objectives for which the CMC was founded or the new direction it has promised the Liberian people".
