“Deadly Crash on Monrovia-Bassa Highway Leaves One Dead, Three Seriously Injured”

Grand Bassa, Liberia:A deadly motor accident along the Monrovia to Grand Bassa Highway has claimed the life of at least one person and left three others severely injured, raising fresh concerns about reckless driving and speeding on the highway.

According to an eyewitness, the accident happened when a motorcyclist traveling from Grand Bassa attempted to overtake other vehicles before colliding with a blue vehicle traveling from Monrovia.

The eyewitness said people quickly rushed to the scene to rescue the injured motorcyclist and other victims involved in the crash.

But the rescue effort reportedly turned into another tragedy when a speeding truck transporting alcohol from Monrovia crashed into the motorcycle and people gathered around the scene. The eyewitness said the second impact resulted in the death of the motorcyclist and may have injured additional people.

The eyewitnesses are calling for a proper search of the area to determine the full number of casualties, as concerns remain that other people could have been trapped or injured during the crash.

The Liberia National Police has since rushed to the scene to secure the area, protect the vehicles involved and prevent possible mob violence, while efforts continue to establish the exact circumstances and number of casualties.
