Opposition Unity Party Takes Early Lead in NEC Provisional Runoff Election Results

MONROVIA — The opposition Unity Party headed by Ex-Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has taken an early lead in the 2023 presidential runoff reelection.
Provisional results announced put UP of Amb. Boakai in the lead with 50.7 percent with incumbent President George Weah, obtaining 48.29 percent of the votes tallied by the National Elections Commission (NEC).
The results are announced from 1315 of 5890 polling places in 14 of the 15 counties in Liberia including Grand Cape Mount, River Gee, Montserrado, Grand Gedeh, Bong, Nimba, Rivercess, Sinoe, Gbarbolu, Maryland, Lofa, Bomi, Grand Bassa and Margibi.
Results from Grand Kru was not announced due to the late start of tallying in the county.
