Tragic Tree Fall Claims Life in Bahn City, Nimba County

On August 27, 2024, a severe storm caused a tragic accident in Bahn City, Nimba County, resulting in the death of Otis Barleah, a respected Cuttington University graduate. The incident occurred while Barleah was working on his Cocopa farm along Miaplay Highway. 

Barleah and his colleague, Diagbay Diah, were in the midst of clearing brush when the storm suddenly intensified. To find shelter, they took cover under an old kitchen structure on the farm. Despite their precautions, the powerful winds uprooted a nearby tree, which then fell on the structure, striking both men.

Barleah was fatally injured in the accident. Diagbay Diah, however, survived but suffered multiple injuries. He was quickly transported to a local clinic, where he received urgent medical care.

The community has been deeply affected by this tragedy, with many expressing their condolences and concern for the injured. Local authorities and emergency services responded promptly to the incident, providing support and assistance in the aftermath. The event highlights the unpredictable nature of severe weather and the critical importance of safety measures during such conditions.
