Young Liberian Hailed as “Integrity Icon” After Returning Missing iPhone 14 Pro Max Without Demanding Reward
Monrovia, Liberia:A 20-year-old Liberian identified as Benjamin Yais is winning widespread praise across social media and within his community after returning a missing iPhone 14 Pro Max to its owner without asking for any reward, in a gesture many are describing as a powerful example of honesty and integrity among young people in Liberia.
According to accounts shared by the family involved, Benjamin discovered the expensive device with barely 2% battery remaining. Rather than switching it off or taking advantage of the situation, the young man reportedly took the phone home, charged it fully, kept it powered on, and patiently answered calls from the worried family throughout the night.
The phone, which belonged to a young lady, was eventually returned safely the very same evening after the family successfully reached Benjamin through repeated calls made to the device. Relatives say the process was smooth, respectful, and free of any demands or conditions.
The emotional story was publicly shared by Musa Konneh, the father of the young lady who lost the phone, who described Benjamin as a rare symbol of integrity at a time when many people often lose hope in humanity.
“Last night, another integrity icon was discovered in Benjamin Yais, the 20-year-old young man who found my daughter’s iPhone 14 Pro Max and returned it with zero demands,” Konneh wrote in an emotional message shared online.
Konneh further explained that Benjamin’s actions went beyond simply finding a lost device, noting that the young man made every effort to ensure the phone could be traced and reclaimed by its rightful owner as quickly as possible.
“Benjamin found the phone when it had about 2% battery, charged it completely, and made sure it was on. He answered every call we made in our efforts to reclaim the device and made it available for pickup the very same night without hesitation,” the grateful father added.
The incident has since sparked admiration from many Liberians who say Benjamin’s honesty reflects the kind of moral example needed in society, especially among the country’s younger generation. Several social media users described the act as proof that integrity, compassion, and good upbringing still exist despite growing public concerns about crime and dishonesty.
Many have also called for Benjamin Yais to be publicly recognized and celebrated for his actions, with some saying his honesty deserves opportunities and blessings that could positively transform his future. For many observers, the young man’s decision was not just about returning a phone, but about demonstrating character, humanity, and the kind of Liberia citizens continue to hope and pray for.
