LSEZA Advances Industrial Growth with New Liberia Packaging Solutions Center
Monrovia, Liberia –The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) has signed a contract with Liberian-owned Ducheck General Construction Service for the construction of the Liberia Packaging Solutions Center, a landmark project aimed at strengthening local production, improving product competitiveness, and supporting business growth across Liberia.
The project, financed through the Public Sector Investment Project (PSIP), represents a strategic investment in industrial support infrastructure and is expected to significantly improve access to modern packaging services for Liberian enterprises, particularly small and medium-sized businesses.
Upon completion, the facility will offer product filling, labeling, and packaging services designed to help local manufacturers overcome one of the key barriers to market expansion—access to affordable, high-quality packaging that meets both domestic and international standards.
By improving product presentation, branding, and compliance with market requirements, the Packaging Solutions Center will enable Liberian-made goods to compete more effectively in local, regional, and global markets while creating new opportunities for value addition and business growth.
Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, LSEZA Executive Chairman Prince Wreh described the project as a transformative investment that will strengthen Liberia’s manufacturing ecosystem and provide practical support to local businesses.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to creating the infrastructure and services that businesses need to grow, create jobs, and contribute to national economic development,” Chairman Wreh said.
He also acknowledged the support of Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine K. Ngafuan, whose efforts helped advance the project from concept to implementation.
Chairman Wreh noted that the Packaging Solutions Center aligns with the Government of Liberia’s broader development agenda of promoting industrialization, expanding private sector participation, strengthening domestic value chains, and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
Providing an implementation update, LSEZA Project Implementation Unit Manager William Kawalawu disclosed that construction is expected to be completed within twelve months. He explained that the facility will be located within the Monrovia Industrial Free Zone, positioning it as a key service hub for manufacturers and businesses operating within and beyond Liberia’s Special Economic Zones.
For his part, Alexander Freeman, General Manager of Ducheck General Construction Service, welcomed the opportunity to execute the project and commended LSEZA for conducting a transparent and competitive procurement process that created opportunities for Liberian-owned companies.
Freeman reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering the project on schedule and in accordance with the highest construction and quality standards.
With the contract now signed, mobilization activities are expected to begin immediately, including site preparation, clearing, and the commencement of construction works.
The Liberia Packaging Solutions Center is one of several strategic initiatives being implemented by LSEZA to build the infrastructure necessary for a modern industrial economy. Through investments such as this, the Authority continues to support productivity, encourage value addition, and position Liberia as a more competitive destination for trade, manufacturing, and investment.
