Outgoing Representative Jimmy Smith Slams President Weah's Refusal to Shake Hands with Vice President-elect Kong

Former disillusioned member of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and outgoing Representative of Montserrado County District Two, Jimmy W Smith, has criticized President George Weah's recent conduct at the Executive Mansion towards Vice President-elect Jeremiah Kong as undiplomatic and childish. Smith believes that an apology is warranted from President Weah for his behavior.

During a conversation at his residence in District Two, Jacob Town, Paynesville, Representative Smith expressed disappointment in President Weah's refusal to cordially greet Vice President-elect Jeremiah Kong with a handshake during a transition meeting at the Executive Mansion. He deemed the Liberian leader's actions as childish, especially when official photographs were being taken.

The former Montserrado County lawmaker has urged members of the Unity Party to demand an open apology from President Weah to Vice President-elect Jeremiah Kong.

Smith, who labeled President Weah as vindictive, egocentric, and selfish, accused him of a similar instance of refusing to shake hands with Vice President-elect Jeremiah Kong during a State of the Nation address.

“I am not a member of the Unity Party and have never been, but I strongly urge them to demand an apology from outgoing President Weah to President Boakai, particularly their Vice President-elect, Jeremiah Kong. Look at the behavior of President Weah in that picture taken during the transitional meeting at the Executive Mansion - he shook President-elect Boakai's hand and ignored Vice President-elect Kong.That was childish, vindictive, and egocentric. President Weah must apologize,” Smith emphasized.

Additionally, Smith commended Liberians for electing former Vice President Joseph Boakai, stating that Boakai is capable of improving the lives of struggling Liberians through well-organized governance.

The seasoned security expert also highlighted the outgoing government's failure in maintaining law and order, emphasizing that this should be a priority for the Boakai administration.

Smith expressed his willingness to collaborate with President-elect Boakai's government if called upon, stating his readiness to serve in his area of expertise for the betterment of the country.
