MONROVIA, LIBERIA: The Lower House of Liberia’s bicameral Legislature has summoned the Minister of Justice, Cllr. Oswald Tweh, and the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Colonel Gregory Coleman, to appear before plenary on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The law enforcement actors are expected to the House of Representatives concern on the proliferation of the mysterious death and disappearance of two toddlers in Lofa County.

The House of Representatives also mandates the presence of Commander of the Voinjama detachment of the Liberia National Police and the police officer allegedly linked to the death of Yarkpawolo. Lawmakers believe their testimonies are critical to establishing the truth and ensuring accountability.

The invited law enforcement officials are expected to present comprehensive reports and respond to inquiries from lawmakers during the plenary session. Lawmakers say they will take “appropriate legislative actions” based on the findings.

The decision follows a formal communication from Representative Gizzie Kollince of Lofa County Electoral District#4. The lawmaker expressed grave concern over two separate incidents that have sparked anger and fear among citizens.

The incidents include the alleged killing of Yarkpawolo Moisemah while in police custody in Voinjama City, and the mysterious disappearance of Fesseh Aggrey in Konia Town.

In his communication, Representative Kollince described the incidents as “deeply troubling and unacceptable,” stressing that law enforcement actors must take immediate steps to restore public trust and uphold the sanctity of human life, especially that of children.

“Our law enforcement agencies exist to protect, not endanger, the lives of our citizens,” Kollince told plenary. “The families of these children and indeed the entire nation deserve full transparency and justice,” he added.

The House emphasized that these matters are of national concern and touches the core of Liberia’s commitment to the rule of law and human rights protection.

Members of the public and civil society organizations have also been calling for an independent investigation, citing a pattern of police misconduct and delayed justice in similar cases.
