Alleged Sodomized Boy Left in Pain, Mother Says Gender Ministry Has Failed Her Child

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: The mother of a 15-year-old boy who was allegedly sodomized by a senior officer of the National Security Agency (NSA) has publicly accused the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection of abandoning her son despite earlier assurances that the government would provide care, protection, and shelter for the child.

Speaking emotionally about her son’s condition, the mother said she feels deserted by the very institutions responsible for safeguarding vulnerable children and ensuring justice for victims of abuse.

“The Ministry of Gender has failed me. Every one of them has failed me,” she said. “They promised to take care of my son, provide protection, and ensure his wellbeing, but they abandoned him. The child is no longer at the place where they took him.”

According to the mother, government officials initially removed the teenager from her care following public reports surrounding the alleged sexual assault case. However, she claims the child was placed in an orphanage rather than a specialized safe home equipped to handle victims of sexual violence and trauma.

“It was an orphanage they took him to, not a safe home,” she stated. “After some time, they abandoned him there and left the responsibility back on me.”

The mother further disclosed that her son’s medical condition has deteriorated significantly since the alleged incident. She alleged that the teenager is currently suffering from serious complications and requires urgent medical attention.

My son is with me now. Pus is coming out of his anus,” she said. “He is suffering, and nobody is helping us. We need medical care and we need justice.”

The allegations stem from a case involving senior NSA officer Peter Bon Jallah, who has been accused of sexually assaulting the teenager. The matter attracted widespread public attention and sparked calls from civil society organizations, human rights advocates, and members of the public for a thorough investigation and swift prosecution if evidence supports the allegations.

Despite the public outcry, the child’s mother says little progress has been made toward securing justice.

There is still no justice for my son,” she lamented. “I am calling on the government, human rights groups, and everyone concerned to help us. My child deserves justice.”

The latest claims are likely to intensify scrutiny of both the handling of the case and the support mechanisms available
