Amie T. Dean Apologizes as Police Confirm Kidnapping Claim Was False
Monrovia, Liberia: A widely reported kidnapping case has taken a dramatic turn after Amie T. Dean publicly admitted that her story was false and issued an apology to the Liberian people.
The Liberia National Police confirmed that Dean fabricated the claim that she had been abducted. According to police spokesperson Sam K. Collins, the 26-year-old confessed during interrogation and pleaded for mercy.
Dean was initially reported missing on April 2, 2026, after allegedly telling a friend she had entered a black vehicle with unknown men. She later resurfaced and claimed she had been kidnapped, sparking public concern across Monrovia.
However, police investigations found no evidence to support her claims. Authorities say Dean admitted the entire story was misleading.
She has now been formally charged with making a false statement and providing a false report to law enforcement, in violation of Liberia’s Revised Penal Code. She remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court.
Police are warning the public against spreading false information, stressing that such actions waste critical resources and create unnecessary fear.
More details on the case are expected to be released by authorities in the coming days.
