Boakai, Trump Discuss Liberia–U.S. Relations in Phone Conversation
Rehab Paynesville, Liberia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. of Liberia on Sunday, December 21, held a cordial telephone conversation with the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, focusing on issues of mutual interest between the two nations.
According to the Executive Mansion, the discussion centered on regional peace and stability, as well as continued cooperation in governance, economic development, and security. Both leaders underscored the importance of sustained dialogue in advancing shared priorities.
President Trump conveyed greetings to President Boakai and the people of Liberia, acknowledging the longstanding historical relationship between Liberia and the United States. In response, President Boakai welcomed the engagement and outlined Liberia’s national priorities, particularly efforts aimed at strengthening good governance, promoting economic growth, and advancing national development.
The two leaders expressed optimism about deepening bilateral relations and maintaining open channels of communication between their governments.
The phone call comes as Liberia advances its national development agenda and follows the country’s recent assumption of a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, a development that places Liberia in a more prominent role in global peace and security discussions.
