“Businesses That Exploit Liberian Consumers Will Be Held Accountable” President Boakai

Monrovia, Liberia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has issued a strong warning to businesses exploiting Liberian consumers, vowing accountability while highlighting major gains in job creation and food security under his administration.

Delivering his State of the Nation Address at the Capitol Building, President Boakai praised the Vice President and the Price Committee for intervening to prevent unjustified price increases that were hurting ordinary Liberians.

Businesses that exploit Liberian consumers will be held accountable,” the President declared.

He emphasized that job creation remains a top priority of his administration, noting that government’s employment strategy focuses on removing barriers to economic growth through targeted investments in infrastructure and productive sectors.

According to President Boakai, more than 70,000 short- and medium-term jobs have already been created nationwide through ongoing infrastructure projects.

The President also announced that support from international investment partners will help an additional 30,000 young people and entrepreneurs establish businesses, generating over 120,000 direct and indirect jobs for Liberian youth.

Turning to agriculture and food security, President Boakai said government has recorded progress across key sectors under its inclusive development agenda. He disclosed that in 2025 alone, over 198,000 farmers received support, contributing to increased cocoa cultivation, improved agricultural output, and expanded rural livelihoods.

He further reported that the completion of 166 kilometers of feeder roads has reduced transportation costs, improved market access, and helped move 33,755 Liberians from food insecurity toward food security.

The President also highlighted the National Empowerment Acceleration Strategy, which focuses on agriculture, public works, skills training, and support to small enterprises. The initiative, he said, is designed to expand decent livelihoods and restore dignity to working Liberians.

President Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting consumers, empowering youth, strengthening food systems, and building a more inclusive economy that delivers real opportunities for citizens.
