Deputy Information Minister Takes Swipe at Weah, Labels Him ‘Facebook Content Creator’
MONROVIA, LIBERIA: Liberia’s Deputy Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Hon. Daniel Sando, has publicly criticized former President George Weah, describing him as a “content creator” in response to his recent social media engagements.
Speaking in a remark that is already drawing attention in political circles, Sando suggested that the former president’s online activity does not reflect the stature expected of a former national leader.
“The moment former president Weah heard that Liberia will soon be monetized, he turned into a Facebook content creator. He needs to desist from content creating on Facebook and act like a former leader of the country,” Sando stated.
The comments come amid growing political discourse surrounding governance, public messaging, and the role of former officials in national dialogue. While it remains unclear what specific posts triggered the response, the statement signals rising tensions between current government officials and members of the opposition.
Former President Weah, who led Liberia from 2018 to 2024, has maintained an active presence on social media since leaving office, often engaging supporters and commenting on national issues.
Sando’s remarks are expected to generate reactions from both supporters of the former president and political observers, as debates continue over the appropriate conduct and influence of past leaders in Liberia’s evolving political landscape.
