Nagbe Accuses Deputy Information Minister of Focusing on Attacks Against Weah

MONROVIA, Liberia: Former Information Minister Eugene Nagbe has accused Deputy Information Minister Daniel O. Sando of repeatedly attacking former President George Weah instead of addressing issues affecting the country.

Nagbe, who currently serves as Special Assistant to former President Weah, claimed that Sando’s public comments reflect what he described as an “intellectual deficit,” arguing that the deputy minister often resorts to criticism and insults directed at the former president rather than discussing government policies and achievements.

According to Nagbe, government officials should focus on informing the public about the programs, progress, and priorities of the Unity Party-led administration instead of engaging in political attacks against opposition figures.

Nagbe also alleged that President Joseph Boakai has embraced individuals who have publicly criticized Weah and members of the opposition. He pointed to several figures, including Prophet Key and Representative Yekeh Kolubah, whom he claimed gained prominence during the 2023 election campaign because of their outspoken criticism of the former president and his supporters.

The comments add to the ongoing political exchanges between members of the ruling Unity Party and the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), as both sides continue to debate the performance of the current and former administrations.
