Police Charge 27-Year-Old Man with Manslaughter, Negligent Homicide Over Death of Woman in Gaye Town.
The Liberia National Police has charged 27-year-old Thomas S. Lahun with manslaughter and negligent homicide following the death of a young woman, Annette Suah, whose body was discovered inside an apartment in Gaye Town, Old Road, Sinkor.
The case, which has drawn major public attention in Monrovia, began on April 23, 2026, after Lahun and Suah reportedly spent several hours together at a popular entertainment center on Cheeseman Avenue in Sinkor. According to investigators, the two consumed alcohol and smoked shisha before later leaving for the residence of Lahun’s father in Gaye Town.
Police say the pair entered the one-bedroom apartment after Lahun collected the key from a nearby resident. Hours later, while inside the house, Suah reportedly went to take a shower as Lahun remained in the sitting room.
Investigators claim that after noticing she had been silent for an unusual period of time, Lahun checked the bathroom and allegedly discovered Suah unconscious in a bathtub with foam around her mouth.
The police charge sheet states that Lahun attempted to revive her but failed. Instead of immediately contacting emergency services or taking her to a hospital, investigators allege he panicked after seeing his father approaching the property.
According to police, Lahun then allegedly removed the woman from the bathroom, placed her body on the floor, and concealed it beneath bedding materials and a mattress.
Authorities say he failed to report the incident to anyone, including his father, despite allegedly admitting later that he was afraid to explain what had happened.
The following day, Lahun’s father reportedly returned to the apartment and became suspicious after noticing a strong odor coming from the room. Police say he later discovered the body hidden beneath the bed area and alerted community members before the matter was reported to authorities.
Thomas S. Lahun was arrested later that night, and police have now formally charged him under Liberia’s revised Penal Code.
Investigators have not yet publicly disclosed the official cause of death, and authorities say the case remains under active investigation.
