RIA Security Manager Reportedly Flees Training Program in China as Search Intensifies Over US$19.2 Million Drug Case
Monrovia, Liberia: Chinese security authorities are reportedly searching for Roberts International Airport (RIA) Security Manager Oscar John Brown, who is said to have left a short-term security training program in China and has not returned.
Brown’s disappearance comes as investigations continue into the seizure of more than 100 kilograms of cocaine that allegedly passed through Roberts International Airport on May 22, 2026. Authorities are examining claims that he may have played a role in facilitating the shipment.
In response to the situation, the Liberian Embassy in Beijing, through Counselor Ambassador Elchico Meshach Fawundu, issued a public notice confirming that Brown had left the training program and is currently being sought by authorities.
The embassy called on Liberians living in China not to provide shelter or assistance to Brown if they know his whereabouts. It warned that anyone found helping him remain in the country illegally could face arrest and deportation.
The statement further noted that Chinese authorities are treating the matter seriously because Brown is a government official participating in an official training program. The embassy urged Liberians in China to cooperate with authorities and share any information that could help locate him.
Counselor Fawundu also disclosed that RIA authorities may be contacted to determine whether Brown has relatives or associates residing in China who could assist investigators.
The Liberian Embassy has asked anyone with information regarding Brown’s location or wellbeing to contact embassy officials immediately as efforts to locate him continue.
