Boakai Axed Two Senior Officials of National Housing Authority

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: President Joseph Boakai has, with immediate effect, dismissed two Deputy Managing Directors of the National Housing Authority (NHA) over reported financial mismanagement at the entity.

The officials include Prince Bonnah, Deputy Managing Director for Administration, and Alex Railey, Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services.

According to an Executive Mansion release on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the officials' dismissal followed findings into investigation that linked them to financial mismanagement, against the public financial regulations law.

President Boakai's decision came on the heel of the Board Resolution No. NHA-2025-001 and the findings of an Investigation Committee, which determined that the two officials violated the Public Financial Management Regulations of 2009.

The regulation is what governs how public funds are spent and managed.

The Liberian Leader in a statement said the act revealed serious breaches in financial conduct that triggered his immediate step to protect public resources and restore credibility to the housing authority.

The National House Authority is an institution responsible for national housing development across Liberia.

President Boakai at the same time vowed to take tough administrative actions against any corrupt officials, stressing that financial indiscipline, corruption, and the misuse of state resources have no place in his government.

He further underscored that the dismissals reflect the government of Liberia’s broader push for good governance, transparency, and a zero-tolerance policy toward upholding financial integrity across all public institutions.

Despite the shake-up, the President Joseph assured citizens that the operations of the National Housing Authority will continue uninterrupted, with proper administrative measures being put in place to keep the institution running in line with the law.
