Global Liberian Students Unite as Journalist Henscin Dehgar Assumes LIBSA Presidency
CHINA-LIBERIA: Liberian students across the world have ushered in a new era of unity and collective advocacy with the election of Henscin Dehgar, a prominent Liberian journalist and media advocate, as President of the Liberia International Student Alliance (LIBSA).
Journalist Dehgar currently serves as the Vice President of the esteemed Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL), a position through which he has consistently distinguished himself as a steadfast champion of principled leadership, advocating tirelessly for the integrity of the organization and the rights of media practitioners within the nation.
The historic unity of consolidated international students marks a decisive step toward students studying abroad under a singular, authoritative platform dedicated to academic excellence, welfare, and global representation.
Assuming the presidency of a growing international body, Journalist Dehgar now leads Liberian students dispersed across Africa, Asia, Europe, and beyond, forging a network committed to the advancement of education, protection of student rights, and the cultivation of solidarity.
Reflecting on his mandate, he declared, “This alliance will work to break academic barriers, strengthen unity among Liberian students worldwide, and promote healthy academic competition across countries where our people are pursuing higher education.”
Currently undertaking his studies in China and drawing upon his distinguished background in journalism, Dehgar revealed that his administration will engage proactively with the Government of Liberia to advocate for the establishment of diplomatic missions in nations with substantial Liberian student populations.
He remarked, “Countries such as India, Rwanda, and Russia host a growing number of Liberian students, yet the absence of embassies places them at risk. Diplomatic missions are critical to protecting the rights and safety of our students abroad.”
Emphasising the matter’s national significance, he asserted, “The safety of Liberian students outside the country should be a priority for the state, and I am confident the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work with us to achieve this goal.”
Beyond diplomacy, the Liberian journalist outlined his vision for strategic partnerships with pivotal national institutions, including the Liberian Legislature, the Liberian National Students Union (LINSU), and the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY).
He observed, “Strategic collaboration with these institutions will amplify the voices, interests, and concerns of Liberian students on a global scale,” underscoring LISA’s aspiration to emerge as a formidable, respected voice for Liberian youth in higher education worldwide.
Journalist Dehgar’s ascendancy is expected to galvanise Liberian students across continents, fostering cohesion, intellectual growth, and a sense of shared identity beyond national confines.
