House of Representatives Expels Yekeh Kolubah After Securing Required Votes

Monrovia, Liberia: The House of Representatives has officially voted to expel Montserrado County District #10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, after securing the constitutionally required two-thirds majority.

Lawmakers obtained at least 49 signatures, the threshold needed under the Constitution to remove a sitting member, with reports indicating the number of supporting votes exceeded that requirement.

The decision comes amid growing controversy surrounding a prohibition order issued by the court on Thursday, which called on the House to halt any investigation involving Rep. Kolubah. Despite this, legislators proceeded with the process and carried out the expulsion vote.

Adding to the confusion, the Deputy Chief Clerk of the House stated that she had not received any official notice of the court’s prohibition, raising critical questions about whether the Legislature was formally served before taking action.

The development is expected to spark legal and political debate over the authority of the Legislature versus the Judiciary, as well as the validity of the expulsion process.
