House Stands in Sympathy with Ex-VP Taylor over Son's Death

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: In a solemn show of empathy, the leadership and members of the House of Representatives on Monday, January 26th, paid a condolence visit to former Liberian Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor, following the shocking death of her son, Charles Philip Taylor Jr.

The delegation led by House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon convened at the former Vice President's residence, describing the loss as one that transcends family and touches the nation.

Charles Phillip Taylor Jr., son of former Liberian President Charles Taylor and former Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor, succumbed to death on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at JFK Medical Center in Monrovia.

According to medical sources, he suffered respiratory arrest at the GIMS Hospital in the Sophie Community, in Sinkor. He was later transferred to the JFK Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased held a Master’s degree in Shipping and Port Administration from the Regional Maritime University in Accra, Ghana, in July 2023.

Speaker Koon extended heartfelt sympathy to the Taylor Family and said the loss is an “immeasurably painful moment.”

“This is not only a personal loss, but one the nation shares with you,” Speaker Koon said, assuring the bereaved family of the House’s solidarity, prayers, and continued support.

The visit, marked by quiet reflection and words of encouragement, underscores the House of Representatives’ commitment to compassion beyond politics.
