Minister Nyanti Calls for Stronger Global Partnerships

Davos, Switzerland: Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, is urging governments, international organizations, and private companies to work together more strategically. She says Liberia’s economic growth is closely tied to its role in global diplomacy and peacebuilding.

Speaking at a private roundtable at the Financial Times House during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Minister Nyanti highlighted that Liberia is at a turning point. The country seeks active engagement, not just dependency on aid. She sent greetings from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, noting that the attendance of global partners shows growing confidence in Liberia’s future.

Liberia is redefining its place in the world—not as a recipient of goodwill, but as an active partner in global economic diplomacy, peacebuilding, and multilateral cooperation,” she said.

The small, private nature of the meeting was intentional, according to Minister Nyanti. It allowed participants to move beyond speeches and focus on aligning public and private investment with national priorities, global responsibilities, and international peace and security.

Economic Diplomacy as a Tool for Growth and Stability

Minister Nyanti explained that for Liberia, economic diplomacy means:

Attracting investments that create jobs

Strengthening national institutions

Supporting climate resilience

Promoting national and regional stability

She added, “Sustainable growth itself is a security strategy.”

Liberia’s Role in the United Nations and Global Governance

Minister Nyanti also highlighted Liberia’s work with the United Nations, including its contributions to multilateral initiatives and the Security Council. She said this demonstrates Liberia’s integrated approach to development, diplomacy, and global partnership.
