Deputy Information Minister Denies Being Aggressive Toward Former President Weah and Opposition Leaders

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: The Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism (MICAT), Daniel O. Sando, has dismissed public claims that he has been aggressive or disrespectful toward former President George Weah and officials of the former Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) government, and other opposition leaders.

Appearing on the Super Morning Show on ELBC on Monday, November 10, 2025, Minister Sando clarified that his remarks are often misinterpreted by critics.

He explained that his primary duty as a government spokesperson is to communicate and defend the policies and actions of the Boakai administration.

“My comments are not meant to insult or disrespect anyone. Unfortunately, no matter how clearly or accurately I present the government’s message, the opposition will always find a way to distort it negatively,” Deputy Minister Sando stated.

He emphasized that disagreement and criticism are normal in a democratic society and part of the political process.

“The day you hear opposition leaders praising the government, that’s the day you’ll know the government is no longer working,” he added.

Deputy Minister Sando’s remarks come amid ongoing public debates about the tone of government communication and how officials engage with opposition figures in the post-Weah political landscape.
