BREAKING NEWS LDEA Dismisses Two Officers After Viral Assault on Female Suspect
Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has swiftly dismissed two of its officers after they were captured on video assaulting a female suspect, sparking public outrage and renewed scrutiny of law-enforcement conduct.
The officers, identified as Solomon Gbondo and Faith Willie, were immediately disrobed of their duties and turned over to the Board of Internal Inquiry and Professional Standards (BIIPS) for investigation and disciplinary action.
In a strongly worded statement issued Tuesday, the LDEA condemned the officers’ actions as a gross violation of its Code of Conduct, which strictly prohibits assault, abuse, and any form of inhumane treatment.
“There is absolutely no room for abuse of power within the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency,” the statement said.
The agency made it clear that it fully distances itself from the misconduct and warned all officers against abusing the authority entrusted to them.
According to the LDEA, any officer found guilty of similar acts will face the full weight of the law, stressing that uniforms and badges do not place anyone above accountability.
The incident comes amid growing public concern over the treatment of suspects by security personnel and has triggered calls for stricter oversight and enforcement of professional standards.
Despite the incident, the LDEA urged the public to continue cooperating with law-enforcement efforts, especially in reporting drug-related activities, assuring citizens that misconduct by officers will not be tolerated.
