Coleman to Foko: “Take Your Evidence to Court, Not the Media”
Police IG Gregory Coleman rejects assassination allegations by Rep. Frank Saah Foko, urging him to present evidence in court following a tense Wroto Town incident.
Monrovia, Liberia: The Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Gregory Coleman, has rejected allegations made by Montserrado County District #9 Representative Frank Saah Foko, who accused the police chief of plotting to assassinate him.
The accusation stems from a tense incident earlier this week in Wroto Town, where officers reportedly deployed tear gas to disperse a crowd during a land dispute. Amid the chaos, Representative Foko was seen leaving the area and later made public claims that his life was under threat.
According to the lawmaker, the police leadership had targeted him, alleging that Inspector General Coleman intended to have him killed. He further expressed fear for his safety and that of his family, stating they no longer feel secure in the country.
However, no evidence has been publicly presented to substantiate the claims.
In a swift response, Inspector General Coleman dismissed the allegations as unfounded and challenged the lawmaker to follow legal procedures if he has proof.
“Stop making public claims that Gregory Coleman will kill you. Take your evidence to court,” Coleman stated firmly.
The police chief emphasized that serious accusations of such magnitude should be handled through the judicial system rather than public statements.
The situation has since sparked public debate, with many calling for clarity and accountability from both sides as tensions between law enforcement and political actors continue to draw national attention.
