Education Sector Mourns Death of Veteran Educator Momo B. Kamara

Monrovia, Liberia: The education sector is mourning the death of Mr. Momo B. Kamara, a veteran educator, school administrator, and former national education leader whose career spanned several decades.

Mr. Kamara was a former senior lecturer at the LICOSESS College of Education, where he played a significant role in training and mentoring teachers who now serve in schools across Liberia. He also served as President of the National Association of Liberia School Principals (NALSP), a position from which he advocated for professionalism, accountability, and improved standards within the country’s education system.

In addition to his work in education, Mr. Kamara was active in national politics. He contested for the position of Representative for Montserrado County District #4 in the 2011, 2017, and 2023 general elections.

Before his death, Mr. Kamara served as principal of the Nathan E. Gibson School along the Du-port Road for more than 30 years. During his tenure, he became widely known for his long-standing administrative leadership and commitment to school management and discipline.

Details surrounding the cause and date of his death have not yet been made public. Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in from educators, school administrators, former students, and professional colleagues who describe him as a dedicated educationist and seasoned administrator.

The passing of Mr. Momo B. Kamara marks the loss of a prominent figure in Liberia’s education sector.
