EFFL Threatens to Review Unity Party Agreement Over Alleged Disrespect of Members

The Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL), Emmanuel Gonquoi, has announced that the political movement will review its existing agreement with the Unity Party-led government, citing what he described as repeated acts of disrespect toward its members.

Speaking in a statement, Gonquoi said the decision takes immediate effect and reflects the organization’s dissatisfaction with the treatment of its members by government officials.

Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia have been disrespected by officials of the Unity Party-led government; therefore, effective today, we as the EFFL will review our existing agreement with the Unity Party,” Gonquoi declared.

He further warned that the movement would not tolerate what it considers disrespect toward its members and supporters.

We will not tolerate any form of disrespect toward our members or partisans. If any of our partisans are disrespected, we as the EFFL will respond fearlessly and will not remain silent in the face of such treatment,” he added.

Gonquoi did not specify the incidents that prompted the announcement, nor did he indicate what changes could result from the review of the agreement.

The statement comes amid growing political tensions and could have implications for the relationship between the EFFL and the ruling Unity Party if the differences remain unresolved.
