“I Am Contesting 2029”: FrontPage Africa Reporter Declares Bid for District 4 Montserrado
Paynesville City, Liberia: As Liberia inches closer to the 2029 general elections, political activity is picking up, especially among young people across counties and districts who are increasingly positioning themselves for legislative seats and party leadership roles.
In Paynesville City, along the Duport Road corridor, a notable political development has emerged. Veteran journalist and civic figure Francis G. Boayue has officially declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Montserrado County District 4, currently held by Michael Thomas.
Boayue confirmed his decision in a phone interview with Kool 91.9 FM Executive Mansion reporter Daniel Theophilus Cole Vai, stating plainly: “Yes, I am contesting, and I am currently working on the process.”
Boayue is a long-time resident of Duport Road, where he has lived for more than 25 years, and a respected member of the Effort Baptist Church. Professionally, he is a senior reporter with FrontPage Africa, one of Liberia’s leading independent newspapers. Beyond journalism, he brings experience as a public relations professional and administrator, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Public Sector Administration at Cuttington University, School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
Political observers say Boayue’s declaration reflects a growing wave of youth-driven political ambition ahead of 2029. At present, he is the only young aspirant to publicly announce a challenge to the incumbent in District 4, signaling what many see as a fearless entry into a traditionally competitive political space.
With the campaign season still in its early stages, Boayue’s move adds fresh dynamics to Montserrado County politics and underscores the increasing role of young professionals in shaping Liberia’s next electoral chapter.
