Liberia Raises Resident Engineers’ Salaries From US$250 to US$1,000
MONROVIA, Liberia: The Government of Liberia has announced a major salary increase for Resident Engineers assigned across the country’s fifteen counties, raising their monthly pay from US$250 to US$1,000 in what officials describe as a historic reform within the public sector.
The decision is being widely praised as a significant step toward improving the welfare and motivation of technical professionals responsible for supervising infrastructure and development projects nationwide.
According to information shared by Abraham Godsend Kromah, the adjustment reflects the government’s growing commitment to professionalism, accountability, and national development through improved support for skilled Liberian workers.
For years, many Resident Engineers reportedly operated under challenging conditions with limited financial incentives despite playing key roles in road construction, public infrastructure monitoring, and technical project implementation across the country.
The reform has drawn commendation for President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., who continues to push for improvements within public institutions and government service delivery.
Recognition has also been directed toward Public Works Minister Roland Layfette Giddings for providing leadership on the initiative, while Deputy Minister for Technical Services, Prince Tambah, has been credited for his advocacy and technical efforts that reportedly helped drive the reform process.
The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, along with Finance Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan II, has also been acknowledged for supporting the salary adjustment as part of broader efforts to strengthen efficiency and effectiveness within Liberia’s public sector.
Observers say the increase represents more than a simple pay raise, describing it as an investment in better infrastructure supervision, improved accountability, and stronger delivery of development projects across Liberia.
The salary increment is expected to boost morale among Resident Engineers and encourage higher standards in the execution of government projects throughout the country.
