Monrovia Liberia: The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) is engaging with South Korea's National Tax Service (NTS) in a strategic move to advance tax administration and enhance revenue generation in Liberia.

The high-level mission forms part of the LRA's broader plan to accelerate the modernization of the country's tax system.

In an ongoing week-long working visit, officials of the Liberia Revenue Authority, led by Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah, are in talks with Korea's National Tax Service (NTS) to improve domestic revenue generation and public service delivery.

Korea's National Tax Service (NTS) is widely regarded as one of the most technologically advanced tax administrations in Asia.

The LRA delegation's visit to South Korea is expected to provide valuable insights into how digital technology can transform tax administration, increase compliance, and make services more accessible to taxpayers.

Speaking about the working visit, the Commissioner General Dorbor Jallah said the LRA remains committed to adopting proven international best practices that can strengthen Liberia's tax administration system.

"Learning from global leaders in innovation and digital transformation will help accelerate our efforts to modernize tax administration, strengthen compliance, and improve taxpayer services," Jallah noted.

He emphasized that the Authority is particularly interested in solutions capable of reducing revenue leakages, improving compliance management, and enhancing the efficiency of tax collection systems.

During the first leg of the engagement, the Liberian delegation met with officials of Hyundai Steel, LG Consultancy Services, and LG Electronics.

Discussions centered on the application of technology to modernize tax operations, improve data management, enhance cybersecurity, and strengthen compliance monitoring.

The meetings also examined opportunities to automate key tax processes, improve taxpayer interaction through digital platforms, and utilize advanced data analytics to support informed decision-making and more efficient revenue collection.

For their part, Representatives of the Korean institutions welcomed the discussions and expressed willingness to explore future collaboration with Liberia in areas ranging from technology transfer and institutional development to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
