Why Was Finda Bondo Not Arrested? Questions Trail Her Arrival at RIA

MONROVIA, Liberia: Former Chief of Protocol to former President George Weah, Nora Finda Bondo, reportedly returned to Liberia on Tuesday through Roberts International Airport (RIA) without being arrested, despite reports of an outstanding warrant issued by Criminal Court “C”.

According to sources, Bondo arrived on an Air Peace flight and passed through airport immigration and security procedures without any known action taken against her.

Bondo is facing several criminal charges, including money laundering, theft of property, misuse of public funds, criminal conspiracy, forgery, and criminal facilitation. The case is being prosecuted by the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT) and the Ministry of Justice as part of efforts to recover assets allegedly linked to corruption.

Court records show that she previously filed a Property Valuation Bond worth US$435,560, using several properties as security to guarantee her appearance in court. Under the bond agreement, she is required to remain under the court’s jurisdiction and cannot leave the country without permission.

Her reported return without arrest has raised concerns about the enforcement of court orders and the effectiveness of Liberia’s border security and law enforcement systems.

The Liberia Immigration Service and other security agencies have not yet explained whether the arrest warrant is still active or why it was not enforced upon her arrival.

The development has sparked public discussion, with many questioning whether anti-corruption laws are being applied equally to all citizens, regardless of their political connections.

As the case continues, attention is now focused on the courts, the Ministry of Justice, and security authorities for clarification on Bondo’s legal status and the next steps in the proceedings.
