Gweatamue Residents Scolds Senator Kpehe as a “Political Well-Designed Liar” Over Broken Promises in Suakoko District.

SUAKOKO DISTRICT, BONG COUNTY: Residents of Gweatamue Community in Suakoko District, Bong County, have launched a scathing attack against Senator Johnny K. Kpehe Sr., branding him a “political well-designed liar” for what they describe as his failure to deliver on major campaign promises made during the 2023 presidential and general elections.

The angry residents accused Senator Kpehe of abandoning them after securing their votes, vowing to “bury and burn his political future” in the 2029 elections if he fails to redeem his commitments.

During the 2023 campaign, the senator reportedly promised to rehabilitate the Gbarn-la Road and repair the damaged bridge linking Gbarn-la to several surrounding towns and villages - projects residents say were pivotal in their decision to support him at the polls.

However, nearly two years later, the community claims Senator Kpehe has not returned to the area, nor has any work begun on the promised infrastructure.

“This is disheartening and frustrating,” one resident lamented. “He came here, saw our struggles, and assured us that help was coming. Since his election, we haven’t even seen his shadow.”

Locals recounted that during the campaign, Senator Kpehe instructed them to gather sand and rocks at the bridge site - an instruction they carried out in anticipation of the promised repair. Today, the bridge remains impassable, worsening transportation challenges and putting lives at risk.

Community leaders say the deteriorating road and bridge have made access to the Gbarn-la Clinic, the only healthcare facility in the area, increasingly difficult.

Pregnant women and the sick, they noted, are often carried in hammocks across dangerous paths to reach medical help - a situation they described as “unacceptable in the 21st century.”

“If this road and bridge are not fixed, our people will continue to die,” another resident said emotionally. “Senator Kpehe saw our condition firsthand but chose to ignore us. That’s why we now call him an insensitive leader who cares nothing for the plight of the struggling masses.”

The aggrieved residents are appealing to the Boakai–Koung administration and humanitarian organizations to intervene and bring relief to their suffering community.

When contacted for a response, Joseph Armstrong Doloyuwah , Media Consultant in the office of Senator Kpehe, said: “The office will comment after consultations.”
