Breaking News: Kouh Denied to Contest LFA Elections Over Integrity Issues
Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberia Football Association Election (LFA) Committee has denied Fassell President Cassell A. Kouh from contesting the Football House's May 15 Elective Congress over his 2017 conviction for investment fraud in the United States.
Kouh has earlier submitted his application to the LFA Election Committee to contest the football body's Presidency.
However, the Election Committee said Kouh's conviction in the United States for criminal offence rendered him ineligible as per the LFA standing rules.
The Committee stated that Articles 45.4 and 58.1 of the LFA Statues categorically bar any individual who has been found guity of a criminal offence from contesting for the presidency or serving as a member of the Executive Committee.
The qualified candidates list was released on Thursday. The Election Committee states: "While aspirant Cassell A. Kuoh may have embraced a changed lifestyle following the completion of his sentence in the United States, the Liberia Football Association Statutes (2018, as amended 2021-2023) are clear and uncompromising.
"Personal rehabilitation, however commendable, does not overide this statutory integity requirement. Accordingly, Mr. Kuoh remains a subject of the "ineligible clause" to stand for election under the binding provisions of the LFA Statutes".
Meanwhile, incumbent President Mustapha Raji remains the lone candidate contesting for the Presidency.
