Impeachment Threat Hangs Over Chief Justice Gbeisay
MONROVIA, LIBERIA: Montserrado County District #10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, has made a bold declaration, threatening to file a bill of impeachment against Chief Justice Yeamie Quiqui Gbeisay before the House of Representatives.

Representative Kolubah accused the Chief Justice of abuse of power. The lawmaker claimed that Chief Justice Gbeisay failed to adequately address corruption allegations levied against him in the case involving Justin Oldpa Yeazehn, widely known as "Prophet Key".
According to the tough-talking Representative, the Chief Justice's handling of the case heavily on concerns about invectives used against him and left grave corruption unresolved, raises eyebrows about accountability under his leadership.
Speaking on a local media platform on Monday, February 16, Representative Kolubah said that unless steps are taken to impeach Justice Gbeisay, Liberia risks “returning to its dark days". He highlighted that he is currently drafting a bill to push for the removal of the Chief Justice from office.
"If that man is not impeached, Liberia will go back to the dark days. This is why I am drafting a bill with other specifics to take to my colleagues for his impeachment," he asserted.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker alarmed that there are more pressing judicial matters affecting ordinary Liberians that have not received urgent attention and claimed that the Chief Justice has prioritized certain cases.
He contended that issues of national importance were sidelined in favor of addressing allegations of profanity directed at the Chief Justice and members of his family.
"The man is inconsistent. What kind of judge will have two opposing opinions on one matter? This is a moral issue. This man has no morals," the lawmaker stated.
As of the time of this publication, there has been no official response from the Office of the Chief Justice regarding the allegations and the impeachment threats made by Representative Yekeh Kolubah.
