President Boakai, Police IG Eye U.S. Backing to Modernize Police Force
Washington, D.C.: Arizona Public Safety Director, Colonel Jeffrey Glover, paid a courtesy visit to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai while the Liberian leader was briefly in Washington, D.C., on his way to California for official events.
The meeting focused on how the United States, particularly Arizona, can support Liberia’s police reform efforts. Both sides discussed training, technical support, and ways to strengthen the Liberia National Police.
President Boakai said his government is working to build a professional and disciplined police force to ensure peace, security, and public trust. He stressed that a strong police system is key to national development.
Colonel Glover welcomed the engagement and said he is open to working with Liberia through training programs, knowledge sharing, and modern policing methods.
The two sides also discussed areas like leadership training, community policing, and improving how the police operate.
Officials present at the meeting included National Security Advisor Samuel Koffi Woods, Cabinet Director-General Nathaniel Kwabo, and Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman.
The visit shows growing international support for Liberia’s security and governance reforms.
