Vice President Koung Unveils Tappita Vocational College, Sponsors First 100 Students
Tappita, Nimba County: Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has officially commissioned the Tappita Vocational Training Institute (TVTI), a newly established public technical and vocational education institution aimed at equipping young Liberians with practical and marketable skills.
The launch follows the passage of legislation by the National Legislature creating the institute and its subsequent signing into law by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, giving the institution full legal recognition and authority to operate.
As part of his support for the project, Vice President Koung donated 1,000 bags of cement to assist with ongoing infrastructure development and announced that he will cover registration fees for the first 100 students enrolled at the institution.
TVTI has been established to provide hands-on training in various technical fields, including electrical installation, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, information and communication technology (ICT), and other vocational disciplines. The institute is expected to play a key role in strengthening workforce development and expanding educational opportunities in Nimba County and beyond.
The creation of the institution supports the government’s ARREST Agenda, which places significant emphasis on youth empowerment, job creation, and skills acquisition.
With its legal status now secured and initial support already mobilized, the Tappita Vocational Training Institute is preparing to commence full academic operations, offering young people access to career-focused training and improved economic prospects.
