Kigali, Rwanda: Football fans are questioning the decision of Sudanese Premier League Club Al Hilal SC to let go of Liberian midfielder Kindness Cole after just one season featuring for the club.

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Al Hilal announced that it had reached an agreement with the Liberian international to cut his five-year deal short with the club.

"We extend our sincere thanks to our Liberian player, Cole, for his time and commitment to our club. We announce that the contract between both parties has been mutually terminated", Al Hilal wrote on its official social media handle.

The announcement has since sparked widespread mixed reactions across social media platforms with many fans suggesting that the club's decision came too early.

During his season-long stay with Al Hilal, the Liberian International scored once and registered three assists in 18 league appearances for the Sudanese giants in the Rwandan Premier League.

Cole also guided the club to win the 2025/2026 Rwandan Premier League title, standing as one of inspiration in Al Hilal's midfield.

Football enthusiasts and some supporters of the Sudanese club argued that the club took the wrong step, saying Cole's were Impressive especially in his debut in season.

A football lover, Abubaker Abdulrhman, intoned that a loan deal would have been better for the club to maintain the player and keep sight of his development.

"An urgent decision, especially as he is young and a select player that can easily be marketed. The loan options sounded better", he commented under the club's official post.

Another fan wrote: "Absolutely wrong decision, most players have developed and his level was promising. The margin of development was very great and a beautiful playing style".

Fans uproar as Cole, 24, now stands as a free agent and will look to explore his career at a different destination. Al Hilal signed the midfielder from Liberian side Mighty Barrolle in August 2025.
