First Batch Yellow Machines Arrived; Gov't Confirms 137 Pieces
The government of Liberia has announced the arrival of 137 pieces of Yellow Machines at the Freeport of Monrovia as part of the First Batch of 285 heavy-duty equipment procured to advance infrastructural development.
The first batch of the heavy-duty equipment arrived on Sunday, February 22, 2026. According to the government, the 285 pieces of Yellow Machines are procured and shipped in phased batches from the People's Republic of China.
Officials say the equipment will be subsequently transported to Careysburg, lower Montserrado County, for storage and inspection before deployment to the 15 counties.
The Ministry of Information has disclosed that the equipment will significantly boost road connectivity, construction of public infrastructures and buttress overall national development initiatives.
The Executive Chairperson on the Yellow Machines Board of Authority (YMBOA), Brownie J. Samukai, noted that the arrival of the first batch of Yellow Machines, will follow the next batches in the coming weeks.
Reports say, each of the 15 counties is expected to benefit 19 pieces of the 285 Yellow Machines. The negotiation and procurement of the earth-moving equipment have been at the center of public controversy.
Many have questioned the source of funding and speculated that the government procured the machines outside lawful financial regulations.
However, relevant government institutions have clarified that the 285 machines were purchased under strict deal and in keeping with public financial management laws.
