Liberia Launches Nationwide Tourism Inspection Drive to Enforce Business Compliance

Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberia National Tourism Authority has launched a major nationwide inspection campaign aimed at strengthening compliance within the country’s growing tourism sector.

The initiative, dubbed the “National Tourism Road Show,” officially kicked off on Friday March 21, 2026 in sinkor Monrovia, with inspectors covering more than 30 locations across the bustling Sinkor area. 

The exercise forms part of broader efforts to ensure that tourism related businesses operate within legal frameworks and meet national standards.

Leading the inspection team was the Authority’s Director General, Princess Eva Cooper, who was seen actively engaging business owners along Sinkor’s busy streets. 

The team conducted checks on registration documents, operating licenses, and payment records, while also providing guidance to entrepreneurs on how to regularize their businesses.

Speaking to journalists during the exercise, Director General Cooper shared that proper regulation remains critical to unlocking the full potential of Liberia’s tourism industry. 

She noted that compliance not only ensures accountability but also builds trust among investors and visitors alike.

“Regulation is the backbone of a credible tourism sector,” she stressed, highlighting the Authority’s commitment to maintaining standards across the country.

At the same time, Cooper issued a firm warning to non-compliant businesses, stating that failure to adhere to established rules will result in legal consequences.

The ongoing inspection is expected to expand beyond Montserrado County in the coming weeks, with planned stops in Nimba County and Grand Cape Mount County both identified as areas with significant tourism potential.

The exercise aligns with the broader development agenda of Joseph Nyuma Boakai, whose administration has placed tourism among its key priorities for attracting investment, creating jobs, and driving economic growth.
