LNP Names Economist Samuel Jackson Person of Interest in Wife’s Death
Liberia National Police has named economist Samuel Jackson a person of interest in the death of his wife as investigators pursue an alleged homicide case.
Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberia National Police has declared Liberian economist Samuel Jackson a person of interest in connection with the death of his wife, as investigators continue probing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police spokesman Sam Collins disclosed that preliminary observations from the scene raised serious concerns, prompting authorities to launch what he described as an alleged homicide investigation.
“A very deep laceration was seen on the head of the deceased. We saw what appears to be bruises on the body. Mr. Jackson also alluded that there was blood on the scene of the incident. Sam Jackson is a person of interest. This is an alleged homicide investigation. The police will remain deployed at his home,” Collins said.
According to police, the visible injuries found on the deceased have made the case one of major concern, with investigators now working to establish exactly what happened.
Samuel Jackson, while recounting the events leading up to the incident, said he had left home in the morning for a radio program at OK FM and had planned to return later to take his wife shopping for a wedding.
Jackson said he left his house around 8:20 a.m. and later called home around 10:00 a.m. to confirm whether his wife was ready.
He explained that upon returning, he instructed the cook to knock on the bedroom door, but was told she was likely asleep. Jackson said he later entered the room himself and found his wife lying in what he described as a pool of blood.
According to his account, she was either fully conscious or semi-conscious at the time she was discovered. He said he immediately called his employees for help, and because she was naked, they first clothed her before rushing her to Catholic Hospital for medical attention.
Jackson further claimed that medical tests later revealed his wife had suffered a brain injury, which he suggested may have resulted from a fall in which she hit her head.
However, police say the physical condition of the deceased, including the head wound and bruises seen on her body, has led investigators to treat the matter as suspicious.
Authorities have not yet announced any arrest, but the designation of Jackson as a person of interest means he remains central to the ongoing investigation.
The Liberia National Police says officers will continue to secure the residence while investigators gather evidence and determine the next course of action.
