UL Prospective Graduates Protest Delayed Grades, Demand Clearance Grace Period
Paynesville, Liberia: Tensions surfaced at the Fendell Campus of the University of Liberia on Monday as some prospective graduates of the institution’s 105th graduating class staged a protest over delays in the release of academic grades.
The protesting students said the delay has significantly reduced the time available for them to complete financial clearance requirements ahead of commencement activities.
According to the students, the situation has been further compounded by prevailing economic difficulties, which they argue have made it more challenging to meet payment obligations within a shortened timeframe.
They are now calling on the university administration to grant a grace period that would allow affected candidates to regularize their clearance status and participate in the upcoming graduation ceremony.
University authorities have not yet publicly responded to the concerns raised by the students.
